BELLMAWR - Nick Cavanaugh and Jason Cavanaugh combined for three scoreless innings, but the Roughriders were held to just three hits in an opening day loss to Sportz Central. Sportz Central broke a scoreless tie in the fourth with all the runs they'd need, pushing across two unearned runs against Eric Elmer (3 IP, 3 H, 5 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 3 K). Adam Bartholomew, last season's offensive leader, picked up where he left off with two of the team's three hits.
Roughriders 9, Deptford 5 June 2, 2016
DEPTFORD - Drew Dark earned his first TriCounty win in his first ever start, leading the Roughriders to a 9-5 win over Deptford. Dark was credited with a complete game in the shortened six inning game, scattering 13 hits (2 BB, 2 K). First year Roughriders played a big role in the win. In addition to Dark, John Tedeschi doubled, tripled, and drove in two runs to as the offense built a 6-2 lead through four innings. Noah Clement (2-4, RS, 2B) and Charlie Clark (2-4, RS, 2 RBI, BB) also chipped in, helping the team to their first win in 2016.
Roughriders 3, Maple Shade 1 June 3, 2016
HADDONFIELD - Luke Westfield pitched a complete game, five-hitter in the Roughriders' 3-1 victory over visiting Maple Shade. The second year righty struck out three and walked two in an efficient performance. Mike McLauglin singled in Alex Reinicker for a 1-0 lead in the first, and Noah Clement's fielder choice RBI made it 2-0 after three innings. With the score 2-1 in the sixth, Tyler Easterday's sac fly scored Collin Fabio (1-3, 2B) for insurance before Westfield finished off his gem.
